Why volunteers are so important to us
Volunteers play a crucial role at Bocking Primary School, contributing significantly to the overall educational experience and community atmosphere. Here are several reasons why their involvement is so important:
-
Enhanced Learning Opportunities: Volunteers bring diverse skills and experiences that enrich the curriculum. They can assist in various activities, from classroom support to extracurricular programmes, providing pupils with additional learning opportunities that enhance their educational journey.
-
Community Engagement: Volunteers foster a strong sense of community within the school. Their involvement helps to build relationships between families, staff, and the wider community, creating a supportive environment that benefits both pupils and the school.
-
Additional Support for Pupils: With a significant percentage of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) at Bocking Primary, volunteers can provide essential one-on-one support, helping to ensure that all pupils receive the attention and assistance they need to thrive.
-
Role Models: Volunteers often serve as positive role models for pupils, demonstrating the values of responsibility, engagement, and perseverance that are central to the school's ethos. Their presence can inspire pupils to develop their own skills and interests.
-
Resource for Events and Activities: Volunteers are invaluable during school events, trips, and activities. Their assistance allows for smoother operations and ensures that events can take place, enhancing the overall school experience for pupils.
-
Strengthening School Culture: The involvement of volunteers contributes to a positive school culture, where collaboration and support are emphasised. This aligns with Bocking Primary's vision of creating a safe environment for pupils to grow in confidence and become independent learners.
If you would like to volunteer or are already volunteering but would like to explore other ways to support our school community, please don't hesitate to contact the school office.

Schoolreaders goal is for all children, regardless of background, to leave primary school being able to read well so they can go on to access their secondary education fully and maximise their future life chances.
Established in 2013, Schoolreaders matches volunteers to local primary schools, focussing on schools with the greatest need, where they give one-to-one reading sessions. Currently, over 30,000 children receive a one-to-one reading support session with a Schoolreader each week.
